Canmore a former coalmining town, now residential and touristy, lots of cross country skiing in winter - two thirds of the way from Calgary, Alberta to Banff National Park. The toll gateway into the park is a very short ride further west on the Trans Canada Highway.
Please go ahead and give me constructive criticism where needed! If there is anything that I can change that really needs changing and I can do it in editing - then I will change it and re-post the photo! I promise I won't scream and shout or cry for very long!

@Victor: Thank you for visiting - it is beautiful country!
Incredible view!

@Jen: Thank you for visiting Jen. Incredible views every which way you turn out there. That's one thing I miss -being able to take a day out into the rockies since I moved to the coast. We have coastal mountains here - but apart from Whistler (where the 2010 Winder Olympic Ski events will be held) and another ski resort - there are not so many mountain roads you can drive up to see the lakes and glaciers, etc. way up high.
Looks like a beautiful place!

It is so beautiful Craiger - thank you for visiting.

At first glance I thought this was the Southern Alps, very similar cragginess. One day I'm gonna get there!!

@Bronnie: Thanks for visiting! You gonna get to Canada or the Alps? I've never seen Europe either! So many beautiful cities there - that is my dream vacation! But as far as mountains go - here will do - so many, many, many more square miles of them - seems like they go on forever. But, if I had immigrated anywhere except Canada it would have been New Zealand - so many, many beautiful places I have seen on TV, Magazines, etc.
j'aime beaucoup

@objectif-plume: Thank you for your visit and comment!
I love this! It's gorgeous. The slight graininess makes it perfect!

@jennifer radio: Thanks for your visit - the original wasn't grainy - it was on fine grain film. However, these mountain shots I've been posting are very low resolution images - they have been pp'd in various photo programs - I lost all the originals when my other computer finally died. Found these smaller images on a CD - but think I should stop posting them now until I can get my photos re-scanned looking more like they should. I'm glad you liked this one anyway.
Nice shot. Typical Canadian landscape as I think! Am I right?!

@Vahid: Sorry to be so late getting back to you! No! this is not typical of Canadian landscape!! This is the "Gateway" to the Rockies which are about 300 miles deep from East to West. The Trans Canada Highway runs for 5000 miles across 10 provinces. The scenery varies all the way. We have big cosmopolitan cities - such as Vancouver where I live, and each Province has its Provincial Capital City. These cities have sky-scrapers - parks, such as the one I have been posting recently, people from all over the world, art galleries, museums, etc. It would take a book to describe all the variations in Canada. Maybe you should do a Google search on the image tab - and look at some photos across Canada. I have never been very far East - only to Regina, Saskatchewan province by road. That is the only drive which gets a little monotonous in Canada - through the prairie in Saskatchewan - because it is flat with mile upon mile of prairie which grows wheat and other crops. The main population is concentrated in the Southern part of the Provinces. Out East, in Quebec province, I am told that Quebec City is very European in architecture and very beatiful.
LOL, I know about the Canadian cities, sky-scrapers... I meant when I hear "Canadian nature", I imagine something like this picture! A huge country as Canada has for sure different landscapes! Perhaps it was my fault to explain what I mean! :-)
