I find the sunrises and sunsets at my latitude much fiercer than further south, and they often defy correct exposure. Most of this series of sunsets turned out over-exposed. When I reduced the exposure even a little I got the sun correct but darkness where there should be sea and land detail. Hope every one had a Happy Easter.
Please go ahead and give me constructive criticism where needed! If there is anything that I can change that really needs changing and I can do it in editing - then I will change it and re-post the photo! I promise I won't scream and shout or cry for very long!
My other photoblog has been started too! Anne's Galleries

@Jen: Thanks Jen! This one seemed to work better than the others when the sun was still a bit higher - it looked like a supernova in some of them, ha ha, oh well! :-)
Just absolutely lovely Anne. It caught my eye on the community. And you're right about our latitude.. I've yet to get a really good sunrise or sunset when downunder.. no offense folks... it's just softer, still beautiful..

@amy: Thank you Amy! I wasn't thinking of as far south as that. I was thinking in the tropics, Mexico. They have more or less equal days and nights - whereas ours are much longer days already, than they get even in the Southern USA. So we get that fiery sun that stays above the horizon far longer than they do. I do miss the Canadian Sunsets in Alberta though - too much cloud cover here to get those like Alberta.

@objectif-P: Thank you for visiting and your kind comments :-)
I like the exposure very much Anne. It's exactly what it should be.

@Behrooz: Thank you Behrooz! Sometimes I expect too much. The light from the sun was so bright it was impossible to get the sea and ground with better exposed detail!
Maybe some digital blending of two pics with different exposures. It takes time but also has great results.

@Behrooz: Thank you Behrooz - excellent suggestion. However, time is what I seem to have in short supply these days. I am teaching a couple of people how to use their computers, and have to spend time on writing up lessons and making Screenshots to illustrate them. Sometimes, when they need to see how it is done, I make flash video tutorials for them. Also, a lot of photo printing to do for family. I got an email before my accident from someone in England, who had seen my posts in Genforum from 5 years ago, regarding my dad's family tree, and it would appear he is my dad's twin brother's son (my cousin) whom I never met. I still haven't done anything about that - but apparently he has traced a lot of my ancestors, and has the family tree. So, I have to get back into the Genealogy thing again. I think I will cut back on the time I spend teaching though! It is not the same as teaching in a computer class - these two don't do their homework and expect me to run and show them the same things over and over again. It''s a waste of my time when they won't read and practice the basic stuff and then want to do something beyond what they know! Sorry, Behrooz - I'm venting my feelings. I have to go again this evening because my friend has not read the material. I'd much rather work on something photo related. :-(
Anne - this is a wonderful sunset image! I am always amazed at the different colors from one evening to the next! Love the dreamy tones, the clouds and the silhouettes! I think you should be very happy with this one!

@Jerry: Thank you Jerry! I'm way behind on posting thanks, etc. Trying to put together some tutorials for photos and such and sorting out the web site too. This photo did work out better than I expected.
