ON LIONS GATE BRIDGE

So, on we go out of downtown Vancouver across this bridge which goes over the sea. It is very high and ships go under it into the Port of Vancouver. At the other side we will be in West Vancouver and then on to Horseshoe Bay where we stopped for a while.

Well! I am back and missed being away so long due to ill health. It was a bit of a struggle to find energy to stay on my computer and post. My daughter Lesley and her husband Robin, gave me this wonderful gift of a cruise to Alaska and Lesley and I had a whale of a time! I could just live on that ship - absolutely wanted for nothing! Hope to hear from you all! Don't know how much I can get around posting comments - so will probably have to keep them brief - but will try to get around as much as I can! Thanks to all my friends for their good wishes!

Please go ahead and give me constructive criticism where needed! I am a bit out of practice at both taking and editing decent photographs - so help me if you can!

Those beautiful mountains as a backdrop make a spectacular view! i like the perspective you've chosen for this photo. Thank you too for the informative detail in your write-up on this route in Vancouver. Hopefully I will make time to visit Vancouver in future as I have relatives there :)

@Rebecca: You would love Vancouver if you came when its not "monsoon" season. The summers for the most part are nice but can change to rainy spells much like England. I guess that is why it is so green here. There are lots of great places to visit not shown on our route through the city. The coastal mountains are beautiful - but not so high and rocky as the "Canadian Rockies" which start about 5 hours drive East of Vancouver. Appreciate you visiting and your comments so much. :-)

@MaryB: The coastal mountains are quite beautiful Mary - for the most part not so rugged and high as the Rockies - but you can look northwards up any street in the Lower Mainland and there will be mountains on the horizon. Thanks for you comments and visiting :-)

@Jen: I know I have a shot of this bridge somewhere showing it so you can actually see the bridge. Maybe still in my old computer. Some of my old shots were messed around with though before I knew what I was really doing in the first photo editing program I bought - result - over-edited. But yes, the mountains here are quite beautiful and you can see mountains looking northwards up almost any street in the Lower Mainland. And, some in the United States looking south. Hi Billy - nice of you to drop by! The coastal mountains tend to be gentler here in the south-western corner of BC. However, when I get through with this trip I'm on - I'll post some of the Canadian Rockies which make the mountains in Wales and Scotland look like mole hills ;-)) When I lived in Yorkshire we only had Scafel Pike in the Pennines which really didn't come up to Snowdon's grandeur!
