LAKE KALAMALKA

Posted by Anne (White Rock, Canada) on 3 October 2007 in Landscape & Rural and Portfolio.

When in Vernon, if you climb up the road, heading for the Silvar Star Ski Resort, you can see, down in Vernon, the end of both lakes - the Okanagon and the Kalamalka. The Okanagon valley is just over the other side of the hills behind me standing here. The Kalamalka lake is in the Coldstream valley. The Okanagon is big - stretching from Penticton BC to Vernon, a distance of some 75-80 miles. However, I think the Kalamalka is the more beautiful of the two!, The Kalamalka has the most beautiful color. On the ride from Vernon, south to Kelowna by the side of the lake, it changes in hue - from blue, to aqua and emerald green. due to glacial silt. The Kalamalka is not comparable in size to the Okanagon Lake - but it is still a fair size - it ends just before reaching Kelowna BC, almost an hour's drive from Vernon.

Please go ahead and give me constructive criticism where needed! If there is anything that I can change that really needs changing and I can do it in editing - then I will change it and re-post the photo!
