My friend Peter had promised to drive me up Cypress Mountain, where I would be able to see the whole of the Lower Mainland of Vancouver. Well! Um! Er! The morning fog was supposed to burn off by lunchtime. However at 2:00 pm this was the kind of day it was - the city of Vancouver, Stanley Park and the Port of Vancouver, all still shrouded in fog! I still like the view of the Lion's Gate Bridge though! This is where all the large cargo ships, cruise lines, etc. come into port. There were several at anchor out in English Bay - large freighters - waiting to come in - but I could hardly see them either. Well! at 5000 feet up a mountain (the marker from the viewpoint said so) what do you expect on a foggy day. Must go up there again when its bright and clear, and the sun moved a bit further west to light up the city and Stanley Park. The bridge goes across from West Vancouver - which is just below us, right through to the highway through Stanley Park, and then into downtown Vancouver. Still much devastation through the park - trees down etc. from last Decembers gales. That same day I flew home from Vernon before going to Mexico. As we descended (descent starts about halfway from Vernon) it was a very, very bumpy ride!

Thank you everyone, for your posts on my Thanksgiving Turkey! I will try to do a catch-up on thanks in a day or two. It's an anxious time! Peter and I have another mutual friend, only one year older than I am. She had two major surgeries in the last three weeks but has not recovered! The docs called all the family in late last night to the hospital - and this morning said she may not last more than a few hours! She is unconscious now and we are on tenterhooks about the sad news, that has to come! :-(

@Wolfgang Prigge: Thank you Wolfgang: It is all over now - lots of talk with friends - I should be in bed - but my head doesn't want to go to sleep yet!
Oh Anne... I'm so sorry. I lost a dear friend very unexpectedly this year myself (he was only 45). But you never know... miracles do happen. On an up note; I do like your shot here. It's so typical Vancouver and it is a good view of the bridge!!

@amy: Thanks Amy! My friend died at 12:45 pm Thursday - I guess its a blessing, rather than lingering and suffering. But, it is always a shock. I have found that out even when I knew my parents had to go and my husband. Something so final about the end!
Thanks for your message! Anne
Sorry to hear that Anne. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
Great view you have there:)
